I want to share exciting news from Risk Ride Project. CCC staff Andy Meeko has produced Risk Ride (Evangelistic Manga). Training was conducted in Fukushima how to use this tool to share faith.
Here are some testimonies after the Fukushima training:
“We found a 15 year old kid studying and at the library and shared
with him, he readily received Christ.” (Two teenage boys)
“I visited a woman at the hospital who was fighting breast cancer.
Tears filled her eyes. After sharing the manga she received Christ.”
“Meeting a woman at Starbucks who is in medical school. I shared and
she prayed to receive Christ right there.” (Young man)
“I shared the manga with a 25 year old woman who related to the main
character very powerfully. She said her mother did not love her and
preferred her younger brother, and had said it would have better for
her not to be born…This young woman wanted to pray the salvation
prayer and wept, we also prayed she could fully experience God’s love
and forgive her mother.” (Young woman)
“The second time I shared RiskRide I saw powerfully how deeply this
tool can penetrate the heart and share Christ. I’m thankful to God I
was able to discuss things I normally could never discuss.” (26 year old woman)
“This awakened me to the fact that I always have a special opportunity
to touch lives. In doing RiskRide I learned that a middle school
student I knew well had been habitually cutting herself. Going through
the manga she freely opened herself to me.” (26 year old woman)
I was doubtful that a 72 year old woman would be interested in a
manga, but she carefully read (out loud) the entire booklet. Afterward
we prayed together and she wept, and clearly uttered “Amen.”
(62 year old woman)
“I shared with a 13 year old girl who doesn’t read manga, or anything
much, but she happily read this one and said it was so easy to
understand! I look forward to sharing it with many more!”
“I shared the manga with a girl who had struggle much and cut her
wrists about 10 times in the past. In the seven questions she began to
weep severely. I had never known she had so much pain. Several of us
surrounded her and prayed for her.” (30 year old woman)
“I met my own brother, we both live separate lives and hardly talk, he
shared with me that in college he was lonely and discouraged and
considered suicide many times, even now when the stress at work it
tough he goes back to thinking of suicide. Through RR he really opened
his heart.” (Middle age man)
“Sharing with a 29 year old woman, that I had gone to school with, she
revealed that she related deeply to the main character of the manga.
She opened her heart wide to me. She loved the story and wanted a copy
for her sister. She didn’t get saved but I feel we began something
special to build on. This manga gave me the courage to step out and I
am grateful.” (29 year old woman)
“We approached a 12 year old girl who seemed nervous but as soon as
she saw the manga she relaxed. We have had chance to share with many
who have never been near a church or had any exposure to the Gospel!
This is the first time we have shared and it’s pretty simple.”
“I shared with a former high school classmate and was pretty nervous
myself but they believed in Christ and prayed for salvation.! (Young woman)
“I met with someone who had been to church long ago to share the
manga, and she brought a friend. She opened her heart and explained
how she had been hurt in the past and thought it would be better if
she didn’t ‘exist’. Her friend was deeply moved by the story and I was
so glad to see she herself come to church the following Sunday!”
(Teenage girls)
“I shared the booklet with my older sister who is 19 and we had a
heart-ful discussion like maybe never before!” ( Teenage girl)
In a temporary housing unit I visited an 82 year old man, an evacuee
from the radiation zone that I had been worried about. I had boldness
to discuss many things with him because of the manga. He spoke to me
of many things in his life and began to smile.” (Middle age woman)
I shared with a 50 year old woman the booklet and she thought it was a
fantastic intervention for suicide prevention and said it should be
utilized in public schools, plus wanted her high school daughter to
experience it as well. She had to go but wanted desperately to hear
more about a “joy that never ends”. (Middle age woman)
When I shared with a junior high school girl at her home. She was
completely absorbed in the story. At the end of our time she wanted to
pray with me. (Young woman)
“I was scared to share and prayed all week that God would show me who
to share the manga with. I thought of an acquaintance that had failed
entrance exams at high school and gave him a call. He read the manga
in under three minutes! But then he answered every question
thoughtfully. At the end He prayed with me to receive Christ!”
(Young man)
“A woman who read it skeptically at the end concluded, “I guess that
kind of joy can only be found in God and Jesus…”.
